Save Swiss Cheese Pants

Save Swiss Cheese Pants!

Remember the good old days when new jeans actually looked like they were new, as in, never worn before? Now it seems that the more you pay = the more holes you get in your jeans (thanks A&F). As much as this look may work for tweenagers, there comes a time when the emo-grunge-homeless-haute-mess look just isn’t ‘cool’ anymore. I know what you’re thinking – “how can I throw out these jeans that cost me $$$? And on top of that, they make my @$$ looks amazing!” Not to fret, you can still get some more mileage out of your destroyed denim, aka Swiss Cheese Pants!

5 Ways to Salvage Holy Jeans

  1. Layer your holy jeans over your favorite pair of brightly colored leggins or tights to add fun pops of color to your ensemble. This is especially smart during cold winter months to keep your legs warm and toasty!
  2. Have a gaping hole at the bottom? Cut the bottom half of each pant leg off and turn your jeans into cute little jean shorts to rock in the summer.
  3. Go Boho chic by hand-stitching on brightly-patterned swatches of fabric (from bandanas, vintage skirts, or whatever else that is lying around that you can chop up) for Pippy Longstocking patchy goodness.
  4. Get Cat Woman crazy and sew up the holes with a thick white thread. If you have embroidery machine, go over the seam with a decorative stitch in the thread color of your choice
  5. If your jeans are too far gone to even consider salvaging, cut them up and make a pillow out of them. If the holes are hugemongous, layer the denim over a fun print of your choice, or cut your jeans into strips and scraps, and piece them together for a fun DIY patchwork throw pillow!
