Scalp Botox and other weird beauty trends

Written by Bryce

NYC doctors are prescribing scalp Botox to help preserve blowouts. More on that, and other weird beauty trends below:

1. Scalp Botox. Yes, it’s a thing. Can you even imagine needles at the base of your scalp in the name of a sweatless hairline? It’s pretty extreme and Dr. Fusco, a top NYC dermatologist who works with one of my fave shampoo lines, was the one who told me about it at a breakfast yesterday morning. “Women are concerned with their scalp more than ever– they’re even going as far as to Botox their scalp to prevent sweat and keep blowouts lasting longer. I don’t personally do it, but I know of doctors who are doing it for women who don’t want to give up their blowout OR their spin class.” Thoughts? Discuss below, obviously.

2. Limbal ring lenses. I had the opportunity to try limbal ring lenses out for myself (click the link to see what that’s all about), but now they’re becoming a huge deal on American soil instead of being reserved for the trendy fashion girls of Asia. They are designed specifically to amplify the limbal ring, that outer ring on the colored part of your eye. The scientific belief is the bigger the ring, the better the beauty.

3. Inner lip tattoos. I have no idea why these exist. If you know, can you tell me?

4. Yellow eyeliner. It could be just me, but I think yellow is universally unflattering next to eyeballs. It gives onlookers the impression that you’re excited by tarry tobacco and jaundice.

5. Cuticle jewelry/adornments. If nail art wasn’t enough, cuticle art is the next big thing… so get ready for it. You’ll be seeing metallic cuticles all over if you haven’t already. Honestly, this seems easier than scalp Botox.
