There’s a special balance between looking like a put-together gal and an over-sequined-during-daylight-hours fashion hazard. Glam is totally achievable by day, it’s just a matter of luxe fabrics, well-thought out shoes, and elegant beauty routines. Here’s what I’m loving lately:
1. Start with the right dress. This asymmetrical bad boy by Erin Fetherston screams “I’m super cute all day!” while being versatile enough to pair with flirtier, shinier shoes for night. Also, it’s fab for days when you might go overboard at the salad bar, the drapey shape is forgiving when it comes to “I couldn’t stop myself at the carrot slaw” bloat. Available here.
2. Day to night earrings. Nothing says “I’m embracing daylight hours” like nature-inspired accessories, so you’ll want to spend some leftover change on these cheap n chic bird earrings by Stella & Dot. Shockingly affordable, here.
3. Easy nails. Sally Hansen’s got about a bajillion (yeah, that’s the scientific term) shades of cute this season, and they’re all long-lasting and drugstore-ready. I happen to be rocking a fun shade of Sally Hansen blue right now, and it’s stayed put (without and touch-ups) for 5 days already. That’s saying a lot, since I type all day. Available just about everywhere humans live in the USA.
4. Bright skin is your best beauty accessory. When skin is glowing, you don’t need foundation, smokey eyes, or any of the other heavy makeup we’re all so used to relying on. Hevia MD has a luminous daytime formula that helps erase hyperpigmentation with Vitamin C (known to bring out skin’s brightness), algae, and a bunch of other things that’ll leave your cheeks in no need of foundation. Available here.
5. Seal the deal with proper shoes. Basically, this entire ensemble is day to night. All you’ve got to do is wear the right footwear. Daylight means comfy-yet-cute wedges in a neutral shade, like these by Tsubo. Swap them out at night for something silver, and you’re good to go. Tsubo wedges, here.
