Summer = An Endless Need for Cute Updos

Summer is here, and as NYC begins to feel more and more like a steam room at a spa called Hotdogs and Homeless, the need for cute hot weather updos continues to grow. I’m wearing my hair in the below style as I’m writing this. How long did it take me to do? About 4 minutes, après blow drying.

The blow drying itself didn’t even take me that long (despite my excessive Italian mane) because the Kiss Tornado 360 hair dryer that I used does an especially quick job. Before letting the updo artistry commence, I misted my hair with a little LUSH Sea Spray – it’s pretty much what ocean water would be if it went to beauty school. It holds your hair in place in a very non-80s drag queen kind of way. Once the hair is prepped, separate it into 4 sections: 2 outer, 2 inner.

Twist the 2 outer sections into a messy bun and secure with bobby pins. Prepare the 2 inner sections.

Twist inner sections into 2 messy buns and secure with bobby pins.

You can leave it at that if you’re feeling minimal, but if you’re feeling extra free-spirited, forage for some flowers to add.

updos

Tuck them in on the side with a tight bobby pin, and VOILA! Hair that will keep you cool and chic when the weather is anything but.
