Summer Must Haves for Happy Toddlers

Written by Bryce

Happy toddlers = protection and fun throughout the dog days of summer. Check out what we’ve rounded up to keep your little one smiling till it’s time to head back to preschool!

1. Sun protection is so non-negotiable. Aside from just protecting your little one from harmful and seriously damaging rays, you’re blocking out the irritation and cries that come along with sunburns. It’s a win, win really, and Neutrogena’s Pure & Free Baby line is ideal for the sensitive skin our tiniest humans tend to have. Happy skin = happy toddlers. Available here.

2. Cute, light, and breezy is the name of the fashion game all season long. The last thing a kid wants is tight, non-breathable materials against their skin when they’re trying to play a game of just about anything. And nap time? Forget about it if the frocks aren’t flowy and comfortable. Je Suis en CP makes just about the most adorably sophisticated little outfits known to humankind (really, if you’ve got taste, they’ve got ensembles for you). The clothes are basically what YOU would want to wear, just shrunken down to adorable baby through big kid sizes. Available here.

3. Happy tushies = happy everything. Have you ever noticed that diaper rash leads to rash behavior? I mean, how could it not– yikes! Weleda makes an easy to use diaper cream loaded with calendula and other natural goodies to keep diaper, pull-up, and other rashes at bay. It’s a purse essential for any parent with a kid under 3 years old. Available here.

4. Hydration, hydration, hydration. Regular, tossable water bottles are bad for the environment and don’t set a good example for toddlers. Happy toddlers need happy bottles, and DAVIDS Tea makes just about the cutest little kid-size reusable bottle with a straw. Fill it with water, diluted juice, or whatever else you have in mind and stroll on over to the park. It’s easily washed in the dishwasher, too, making life that much easier. Available at DavidsTea.com

5. Did I mention sun protection? This is just a reminder. Get one of these tiny SPF sticks and throw it in your purse. No excuses.

6. So this is fun! Did you know Stokke came out with a toddler tent? It fits right over their little sleeping nest and makes an ordinary toddler into a super cool adventure sleep hero toddler. There’s no scientific data yet, but I also suspect it makes the act of tucking little ones in that much better, too. Available here.
