This easy Sweet Roasted Asparagus recipe is a perfect side dish for any meal of the day.

This easy, make-it-anytime Sweet Roasted Asparagus Recipe is perfect as a weeknight dinner side dish or served alongside eggs when you’re hosting brunch at home. We make it as-is or occasionally drizzle a little bit of our famous dill pickle hot sauce recipe on it when we want a balance between sweet, spicy and salty.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh asparagus spears trimmed
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp honey (if you like a little kick, we are obsessed with this ridiculously tasty hot honey)
  • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • Sprinkle salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Lay the asparagus on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, honey and balsamic vinegar until well combined.
  • Drizzle the honey mixture over the asparagus. Toss or brush the asparagus to ensure each spear is evenly coated. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and any optional ingredients like red pepper flakes or lemon zest. Again, we love using hot honey here—so tasty!
  • Place the baking sheet in the oven and roast for about 12-15 minutes, or until the asparagus is tender but still crisp and the tips are slightly caramelized. Be careful not to overcook; you want it to retain some crunch.
  • Remove from the oven and serve immediately. The sweetness from the honey complements the natural flavors of the asparagus beautifully.

Notes:

You can also make this recipe in an air fryer is big enough, though we’d suggest using air fryer parchment liners to make cleanup easier. Honey is sticky business and you’d rather spend your time eating than scrubbing down appliances.

And if you’re vegan, replace the honey with 1.5 tablespoons of simple syrup or 1 tablespoon of agave.
