I’m not big on anything that involves me sweating or cutting food out of my life. I’ll be damned if you tell me that I have to cut out booze too. You want to know what keeps me sane? Grabbing a happy hour drink with my friends at the gay bar down the street from the office. A new study shows that I could finally find a diet that works for me.
At a recent ACS meeting in Dallas, a new study was presented that showed health benefits of the sugars found in tequila. Read that again. A natural type of sugar that comes from the agave plant, called agavins are used to make tequila. According to Mexican researches, these sugars are non-digestible and do not raise blood sugar. This means that it could lower blood glucose levels for people with type-2 diabetes and help obese people loose weight.
Even if you’re not obese it still seems like a great plan to drink some tequila before you hit the gym. We should all pledge to start adding tequila into our everyday lives as much as possible. Who’s with me?
