We’ve seen a lot of horrible Halloween costumes over the years, all seemingly created for the sake of “Sexy”, such as the Slutty Bin Laden costume. Yeah…what? But this skeleton-bones get-up takes the dumb costume concept to a whole different level.
Besides turning a disease which affects twelve million people – and kills a sizable fraction of them – into a trivial costume piece, the site which sells the skeletally-screened dress goes to the absurd lengths of pointing out that, “the ‘bones’ are not white as shown in the image, they are more of a gray color with rainbow glitter”.
Maybe even more disturbing than the thought of some developer coming up with this idea, having it approved by a row of execs, and then drawn out on a tainted scrap of the loser’s sketch pad to be manufactured in a factory somewhere, is that the costume is still available for sale after at least three years. Several retailers have pulled the costume from their sites, including the popular NYC shop Ricky’s, after catching a justifiable amount of flack for being exceptionally tactless. The website, Seduction Extreme, has also discontinued its plus-size version.
I won’t even guess what will become next year’s newest “Sexy” costume. But I’m happy to stick with the timeless, comparatively mild ones. The Sexy Nurse is starting to sound like child’s play. Oh yeah, it already is.
