The Dark Secret of Subway

Written by Shannon

Oh Subway! How could you?!

When it comes to fast food, Subway is supposed to be the healthy option, right?! WRONG O! Apparently, Subway has a dark side that none of knew about….the “healthy” 9-grain bread. Instead of being “healthy, ” this bread is a wasteland of  high fructose corn syrup!

According to David Zinczenko, author of the “Eat This, Not That” series, the bread does technically have nine grains, with eight of those nine grains being listed at the bottom of the ingredient list under “contains 2% or less.” The number one ingredient on the list is regular white flour. Zinczenko says we might as well choose white bread to hold our sandwich ingredients.

So what are the sandwich lovers of the world supposed to do now? Well, Zinczenko there is no good bread choice at the supposedly healthy chain, so consumers are better off making their sandwiches at home!
