They’re Good For You… And Get Stolen

Written by Bryce

The other day when I was searching like crazy for a sweet but healthy snack to leave by my desk someone suggested prunes.  I spent a good portion of my childhood in Florida, so I’m no stranger to the dried plum.  Prunes are as Floridian as palm trees and Buicks.  Admittedly, it had been ages since I tried a prune, so I figured I’d get one of those containers of Sunsweet’s “Ones” to leave near the computer.  They’re individually wrapped little prunes so you can just have one sweet nibble at a time (which might also prevent mega bathroom issues)… and it kinda gives you the candy mentality.

Well, as soon as I put them on my desk, Rie (the small Japanese princess that works here) floated on through and managed to communicate in her super-thick accent, “Ahhh! prune! These are really good. This is nice and dericious.”  And in hardly an instant, my prunes were gone.  She was nice enough to spare 2 for me, but kept all the sweet, wholesome goodness for herself.

After a little research on Sunsweet prunes, I realized why (and maybe why she’s 32 and looks 18).

  • they’re packed with antioxidants (which slow the aging process)
  • more potassium than bananas (I’m going bananas for that lil fun fact)
  • prunes have nutrients that help protect our bones
  • low glycemic index
  • loaded with fiber (but we all knew that one already)
  • helps boost energy (Rie is a little fireball)
