Top 5 Ways to Enjoy Yourself in Cabo

Written by Bryce

Cabo is so much more than just a party scene (but it’s that, too).

Dear Cabo,

I just wanted to let you know that I’m completely in love with your cushy hotel rooms, free-flowing tequila, cheerful Mexican locals, and abundance of high end amenities in a pretty eco-conscious atmosphere.
I’ll be back soon, that’s for sure.

Hearts and stars,

Bryce Gruber

Here are the Top 5 Ways to Have a Kickass Time in Cabo (whether you’re young, old, or somewhere in between):

1. Dinner on the Beach at the Sheraton. Nothing beats 5-star dining on the edge of the beautiful Sea of Cortez.  Whether you’re feasting on fish, meat, or even just enjoying some casual cocktails this is definitely one of the best settings ever. P.S. If someone proposed to me here, I would probably say yes even if I didn’t like them all that much.

2. Releasing Baby Sea Turtles. Baja Outback Tours runs an intensely beautiful program for nature lovers, families, and just about anyone with a heart.  Guests can actually witness endangered baby sea turtles hatching from their nests and release them by hand back into the sea.  This isn’t some gimmicky tour by any stretch- each participant will actually hold a freshly hatched turtle, name it (or several), and watch their little baby scurry off to their future life in the water.

3. A Night of Drunken Debauchery at Squid Roe. Before you get the wrong idea, I want to issue a disclaimer: Squid Roe is ridiculous, tacky, trashy, insane and inappropriate, but somehow a good time. It’s like every college bar you’ve ever tried to avoid rolled into one, sprinkled with a topping of 80’s hair band music, and oodles of 24 year old girls sporting the entire 2006 Forever 21 collection.  But still, it’ll be the best time of your life for some reason you’ll never quite be able to put your finger on. Unless you manage to put your finger on the fact that you walked out with a bottle of tequila with your face printed on it.

4. The Spa at Capella. Of the hotels I’ve seen in Cabo, Capella is by far the poshest of them all. The architecture is gorgeous, the waterfront scene is soothing, the staff is willing to cater to your every whim, and the spa will make you wish you lived there- seriously. I’ve been to a long list of spas, and as far as resort spas go, Capella ranks among the best. Before treatments begin, spa technicians insist on giving you a special foot treatment that’s guided by the cycle of the moon. Feet are soaked, washed, massaged, rubbed with fresh herbs, and pampered till you’re almost asleep before any treatment begins. It’s like the best massage ever BEFORE the real massage. GENIUS.

5. Kayaking to Lover’s Beach. Lover’s beach is where the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific meet, and it’s like a perfect yin and yang of waters. The Sea of Cortez is calm, placid, and turquoise while the Pacific is rough, dark, and deep. The kayak experience is perfect for anyone that loves hanging at the beach, but hasn’t quite found a way to work in their normal workout routine on vacation.  Kayaking is good, serious exercise and the reward is some of the most breath-taking views you could ever ask for.  Aside from water, volcanic formations, and birds, kayakers are often treated to whale sightings and flying stingrays.
