Travel Spotting: The Chintziest Hotel in China

Written by Gary

When you think of Chinatown, I bet the word “Chintzy” comes to mind. In fact, I bet the word chintzy originated in one of the many China-towns of the world.  Located in Hebei province, China, the Tianzi Hotel brings new meaning to the word gaudy (chintzy’s older, sluttier sister). The hotel holds the Guinness World Record for the “biggest image building” but I personally think “biggest eyesore that rapes my eyeballs” would be more apt.

The buildings were designed as a representation of Fu Lu Shou, meaning good fortune, prosperity, and longevity. I prefer the words: tacky, inexpensive, and horrendous.
