Versatile Fall Fashion Faves

Written by Bryce

If there’s one thing I love, it’s versatile fashion that can work in a variety of settings. Casual, office, lunchtime-chic, you name it- I want it all. I’ve rounded up a few of my fave versatile fall pieces that will top off any existing (or new!) wardrobe for crisper weather.

1. Start with a comfy, cozy sweater. It’s common misconception that an oversized sweater looks exclusively casual- it’s just not true. Pair any sweater with a sleek, narrow pant and heels and you’ve got a boardroom-beating look, or cinch it at the waste with a leather wrap belt, pencil skirt, silk underpinnings, and bare legs and you’ve got fall sexy wrapped up. I’m LOVING this chic sweater by Eileen Fisher, available here. Obviously it’s perfect on the weekends with denim, too, but that goes without saying.

2. Autumn-inspired jewelry. The things about crisper weather is the return of the rust color. It’s one of my faves, and it’s flattering on most skintones. I especially love accessories that are high quality (screw the disposable stuff!), made with real gemstones, and have some kind of cool story behind them. This evil eye necklace by Satya is exactly that- it’s made of lightly sparkling real carnelian (a stone said to offer stability and protection), and goes fabulously with almost any casual chic ensemble you can pull together. Plus, I hate evil eye and love protection. Available here.

3. A proper, versatile lip. OK, this one I’m actually carrying with me everywhere. Susan Posnick’s double sided lip chubby is genius. There’s a deep brick color for more glammed up night looks, and just about the most flattering deep neutral shade EVER on the other end. Trust me, I’ve tried the neutral shade on myself, a blonde co-worker, and an Asian-complected bestie. We all rocked it flawlessly. If you’ve got $24 to spare and a variety of looks to complete, get it here. YOU WON’T REGRET IT.

4. I can’t stress it enough… Good brows are everything. Aside from the overused “brows frame the face” expression (but, they do), there’s the outstanding issue of good brows = pretty, guaranteed. I mean it. Good brows can shave age and weight off a face, they can compliment fabulous eyes, accent fuller lips, or draw attention away from not-as-grand features. Brows are the face’s magic trick, and the best way to embrace them is to care for them properly. I’m loving this Le Métier de Beauté ‘Brow Bound’ Eyebrow Pencil- it’s portable, a great shade for a variety of brow colors, and comes with the brush attached (see? now you don’t even really have to think hard to get fab brows). Plus, it’ll last you many months in this size, and that’s a plus (or a facial insurance policy). Available here.

5. Casual, chic, almost-hipster shoes. I have these in black, but I almost regret not getting them in burgundy because the wine-like shade is so effortlessly chic and cold-weather appropriate that it’s nearly a sin not to wear them with skinny ankle pants and the oversized sweater pictured above. Also, flats and comfort are totally have an in moment, and that’s not something I dare argue. TSUBO, well done. Available here.
