Vintage Spotting: Eclectic Teacups

Written by emilyc

Lately, I’ve been loving an eclectic table setting, and nothing says modern-day Marie Antoinette like vintage teacups and saucers! Ideal for afternoon tea with chic friends or a tea party with your child who no doubt has a discerning eye for vintage china.  They lend an elegance to any get-together without the rigidity of traditional, uniform china.

My vintage teacup phase recently began when my mom inherited a gorgeous, hand-painted pale pink teacup set trimmed with metallic gold. When I saw it, it was so pretty that all I wanted to do was become five years old and administer fake tea to my Barbies.  Luckily, I learned soon after that you don’t have to be a five-year-old home sick from kindergarten to have tea parties because a friend of mine invited me, along with a few other teacup-appreciating friends, for a rooftop tea party in the city. It was a fun and aesthetically pleasing time, and I recommend it to anyone with an affinity for the whimsicality that eclectic vintage china can bring. Get the party started at etsy.com.
