What Happened to Malnourished Being So Last Season?

CZAR by Cesar Galindo’s Spring 2014 show had all the makings of a memorable Fashion Week moment. The hair was sleek and futuristic – a recurring trend in the Spring ’14 shows. Cesar even amped up the fun by adding a line of rhinestones down the center of the head. Very last-year’s-Alexander-Wang-esque. The clothes themselves were striking and statement-making, but the only thing missing was an alive-looking model.

I thought eating disorders were out this season. Nicola Formichetti found some normal-sized girls on Tumblr to star in Diesel’s new ad campaign, and I haven’t heard of any models collapsing on runways as of late, but come on, Cesar. Your models just barely Mary-Kate Olsen’d their way down your runway. Perhaps alien skeleton meets Nicole Richie circa 2006 is the look you were trying to achieve for this collection. Let’s hope rhinestone hair stripes are the only trend Cesar Galindo sets.
