I have heard of living in the projects before, but living inside an actual project is another matter entirely. Designed in 2003, the Spacebox Project is a student housing development in Utrecht, The Netherlands. And it’s wilder than a yurt house experience.
Since you brought it up, I have always wondered why they call it “The Netherlands”? We don’t call it “The Americas?” To me, it appears they are trying to make themselves seem more important than they are, but I digress.
The concept was designed by Mart de Jong in Rotterdam. Each housing unit is made of only 5 composite panels that are assembled on-site, and is completely customizable, even down to color. It’s pretty obvious at this point that modular units are the future of housing, but it all feels very sterile to me.
Would you like to live in a Spacebox?
