Your Summer Casual Look, Redefined

Written by Bryce

Summer casual is a hard look to pull off without sounding the trash alarms, typically. I mean, as cute as cutoffs and halters are, they don’t exactly spell out “hey, I’m actually a chic woman.” A good maxi dress, flats, cutesy jewels, and a good lip… well, that’s a game-changer. You’ll be easy, breezy, I-forgot-these-aren’t-pajamas whilst lounging around the pool, beach, or in-laws (who, by the way, will thank you for not looking trashy).

1. Start with the flats. Brights are still a thing! These new Therafit sandals have comfort technology that makes them worthy of a 40 block walk through the city without a single blister or a complaint, and they look tres chic in summer’s hottest hue: yellow. They’re available for order June 1 on TherafitShoe.com, and if you’re more than a “I sit in chairs and never actually move” kind of gal, I suggest you consider a pair. Perfzies with a maxi dress, beach gear, shorts, or whatever else as you mosey around town. (And yes, I personally own the yellow.)

2. Rock a chic necklace. Have you seen the ML Accessories collection lately? The entire thing says “just buy me already, I’m cheaper and chicer than Moschino was in 1991.” This tribal necklace is everything with the graphic maxi we paired it with, but beyond cute with with denim, all white, or a bright blue shade of anything. $58 to fashion freedom on the ML website.

3. Versatile maxis are everything, my dear. This one is cute dressed up or down, but the graphic print is very now, easy to style, and cute on a wide range of complexions. $138 is also a far cry from the price of a vacation to a place that actually looks like the dress. Available at KarenKane.com

4. Give a little lip. Summer lounging = virtually no makeup. Your total look should be a cutesy outfit, sun protection, and a pop of something fresh on your pout. This Lush Fruit Lip Gloss by Bite Beauty comes in a variety of shades, is gluten free, and will instantly wake your face up after even the longest of Summer nights. If you were wondering, I’m partial to the Sheer Magenta Violet shade.
