Written by Ashley

Cakes & nuts & wedding bells!

Woman’s Day reports on the royal wedding cake ( A fruit cake? Really?) and other wedding delicacies from ’round the world. These chosen few are totally YUM ALERT worthy, for specifically succulent reasons, including the above pictures Yogurt & Honey combo of India. “Called madhupak or “offerings,” the honey ensures a sweet start to the marriage, while the yogurt symbolizes eternal health”  Note to self: get invited to more international weddings.

Bem Casados, Brazil: Translating to ‘happily married’ these sponge cake/dulce de leche treats are tied up all pretty and served to guests as parting gifts.

Kola Nuts, Nigeria: These nuts, usually used in tribes for medicinal purposes, symbolize the end of the marriage. It ain’t complete until the bride, groom & parents share a nut!

Irish Whiskey Cake and Mead, Ireland: This baby is the most important part of the wedding cake, soaked in whiskey. Appropriately, it’s the top tier of said cake, which is served at the christening of the couple’s first baby.
