In late June, Chicago the new band A Lull will happily provide for a chunk of your warm weather soundtrack with a new EP, Meat Mountain. The slyly seductive “Summer Dress” proves that the band has retained the heavily percussive nature as well as effectively providing visceral power of rhythm and groove. Another element that stands out onMeat Mountain‘s lead track is its varied instrumentation and indelible hook, as singer Nigel Dennis sings celebratory with an inviting falsetto over flute trills, saxophone honks, and glassy guitar riffs.
A Lull is definitely a new band to look out for. Everything is assembled so delicately but it still manages to emit such power with it. “Summer Dress” is no exception to this.
