Relationship Spotting: We’re Best Friends, but We Haven’t Talked in a Year

Written by emilyc

You know those friendships where you’re really close with someone, your lives take you in separate directions, you lose touch for a bit, but when you actually talk to the person again, it’s like you never spent any time apart? I hadn’t talked to my very best friend from high school for about 3 months, until he recently called me – our conversation went like this:

“Hey remember that time you wore huge gold hoop earrings and dated that Puerto Rican guy?”

“Yes, remember that time you went through a beekeeping phase two summers ago?”

“Yes, whatever. I thought it was my calling. Gotta go. I love you.”

“Love you, bye.”

I love those friendships, and I want to take a moment to appreciate them because they are few and far between.
