In theory, the idea of a champagne pool sounds glamorous and exciting, like every Saturday night. In reality, taking a dip in this champagne pool will probably get you killed. The “Champagne Pool” is located in the Wai-O-Tapu Reserve on the North Island of New Zealand. It is a terrestrial spring that collects in a crater, and is named the Champagne Pool because it has so much carbon dioxide that it bubbles, like a glass of Moet. The natural phenomenon was created 900 years ago by a hydrothermal eruption, so in terms of geology, its young and sexy and lives up to its name.
