Many of you may have heard, or at least heard of, the song “Cake” by Lady Gaga. If you haven’t, don’t worry, it’s not like you’re missing out on the world’s next pop hit – “Cake” is Lady Gaga’s attempt at rap, and I love it. According to some leaked clips on the Internet, it seems as though she will soon be testing the waters of rap videos with the release of her “Cake” video collabo with Terry Richardson. Before this story gets any more popular, and before the video comes to fruition, here are some things you should know to make it seem like you’re on top of pop culture:
How “Cake” originated. The song originated when DJ White Shadow (a producer on “Born This Way”) made a beat, put it online, and tweeted that he will give people a few hours to make a song with it, send it back to him, and then he’ll put the song out for everyone to hear. Lo and behold, Gaga’s “Cake” was the winner.
What “Cake” means to Gaga. “The real CAKE isn’t HAVING what you want, it’s DOING what you want.”
Is this, like, a radio song, or what? Well, not really. The song first debuted at the Mugler show during Paris Fashion Week in September. Lady Gaga has also performed it at a few shows during her “Born This Way Ball” tour.
