Smell Good Gifts

Written by Kela

Okay people. SOUND THE ALARMS! There are less than five days before Christmas and if you are anything like me,  you still haven’t finished buying your gifts.  Procrastination is a b%&#@.  I always end up waiting until the last minute, in hopes that I’ll figure out the gift that’s just right for each person on my list, before it’s too late. Then finally today,  the answer hit me in the face- literally.  Perfume!  Because really, who doesn’t like to smell good?  And with all the great steals and deals the stores are offering right now (think gift sets),  I’m bound to find something for everyone.  Here are my tried and true picks that are sure to work for everyone on my list as well as yours.  Enjoy!

For Mom:
A fragrance that has a feel good presence like the lady that birthed you along with a name to match…

Donna Karen’s Cashmere Mist.

(Donna Karen Cashmere Mist  $40 – $75)

Inspired by the sensual feeling of cashmere against the skin, Cashmere Mist is the perfect gift of luxury for Mommy Dearest. It’s soft and light but to the point with it’s fresh scents of bergamot, sandalwood and amber…a scent that will carry you from day to night and perfect for the woman that goes nonstop… like mom.

For your sister:
Why not try a junior version of the luxurious Donna Karen with the young spirited DKNY?  Of the three sweet and fruity scents to choose from; Delicious Nights, Red Delicious and Be Delicious, there’s bound to be one that appeals to her senses.

(DKNY’s Delicious Nights $34 – $68) (DKNY’s Red Delicious $38 – $52) (DKNY’s Be Delicious $38-68)

My favorite one to gift of the three is the yummy original, Be Delicious. Combining the sweet scent of apples with other citrus fruits and exotic flowers, Be Delicious is much more delectable than those fruity chain store fragrances. It’s just the right amount of sweet mixed with sophistication just like sis.

For the fashionista in your life that loves designer labels i.e my BFF:
Why not try a scent from the illustrious fashion house,  Missoni?

(Missoni Missoni $50 – $300) (Missoni Aqua $45 – $85)

The fashion house’s famous zig zag pattern is tied into the gorgeous hand-blown-like glass bottles- whether at the top of Missoni Missoni or the base of Missoni Acqua.  Of the two,  the Missoni Aqua is my favorite. It’s filled with notes of grapefruit, bergamot, melon and freesia, all blended together for a fresh citrus scent, reminding you of the Mediterranean sea which the scent is inspired by. Missoni Missoni, on the other hand, is a lot more floral and distinct than the Aqua.  With hints of chocolate and hazelnut, this along with the Aqua will definitely stand out from all others, like any good designer label should.

For that special beau in you life, or in my case my brother:
I recommend Tommy Hilfiger’s Hilfiger for men.

(Tommy Hilfiger’s Hilfiger $47.00 and up)

This fragrance is a stand out in the sea of colognes that all too often smell the same. Hilfiger is a light and clean scent that will stick with you long after you’ve gotten a whiff of it. Blending bergamot, mandarin and pink grapefruit,  ingredients you wouldn’t typically associate with a men’s cologne, this fragrance is nothing less than macho.  Appealing to the masculinity in every man, this one is sure to be a hit with the man of your choice.

as an art because every perfumes’ scent is unique in its own way just like an artist
