A quick day-cation that you won’t waste the whole day—or all your pay– getting to!

       In the mood for a change of scenery, but don’t want to rent a car?  The village of Cold Spring nestled in the Hudson Highlands can offer a welcome respite for city goers that want to get away—but don’t have the time or finances to go too far.

       In about an hour and 15 minutes, leaving from Grand Central Station, at a cost of $20.50 round trip–off peak, you can be in the village of Cold Spring and feel like you’re a world away.

Note–be sure to check the train schedule for your return trip as the last train returning to the city is only a little after 11pm.  The next one is after four am–the next day! 

 

       Once there visitors can tour Main Street by foot.  And, starting in May, visitors can also tour the beautiful surrounding areas by trolley for a budget friendly price of 50 cents one-way which includes funny, friendly and informative drivers. Click here for trolley info.

       Some of the most breathtaking views of the area can be found at Boscobel House and Gardens situated on a bluff on the east bank of the Hudson River.  More info on Boscobel can be found here.
