Engagement is something I never really considered as an option for my life, but as more and more people around me meet the person they plan to spend their lives with, it becomes more and more real to me that yes, people do reach a point where they decide they want to share themselves with someone for a significant amount of time. The wedding and the marriage are follow-through steps but the engagement is the initial commitment. This has lead me to the conclusion that the engagement should be commemorated with more than just a ring.
These engagement photos are from different sources and depict different couples but they illustrate love in full bloom. I feel that like that separates them from stoicly posed wedding photos or cliché family portraits where the blond parents and their children of the corn pose on a beach wearing white and denim.
An engagement is something to be celebrated- and the good news is that there are no rules. There is an opportunity to create some real personalized art with the person you love. And hey- if the marriage doesn’t work out (Kim Kardashian) at least you end up with some really kick-ass photos for reminiscing.
