When decorating a new interior, the immediate inclination is to splash color all over the walls. When dealing with a smaller space, however, sometimes white walls can be your best friend. Color can bring life to a room, but it can also restrict when it comes to smaller areas. The key to using white is to sprinkle around other pops of color that contrast well with the starkness of the white. If you use a bright red near a window for instance, include other instances of the color throughout the room, in the form of knick-knacks, books, cushions, or even practical items like shoes lined up on the floor or hanging coats. This will break up the white and make the space look lived in, rather than newly decorated.
The only problem with white is that it shows dirt easily, so if you are planning to have any messy sex parties, put down some plastic.
