Allah Menu at Serendipity 3 is More Than Frozen Hot Chocolate

Written by Bryce

Serendipity 3 in NYC is famous for their frozen hot chocolate, but with menu items like “A La Garden of Allah” patrons may be longing for the separation of church and supper.

All it takes is a glance at Serendipity 3’s food menu to see the Allah-infused salad option, but in a restaurant that’s been a mainstream NYC classic, should religion be the focus– whatever happened to flavor adjectives gracing menu descriptions? “Ethnic” restaurants have always been clear about offering halal, kosher, or other fares for those restricted by their spirituality, but would is it offensive to offer Jesus Fries or Hashem Burgers at another seemingly, non-religious restaurant?

A La Garden of Allah: A sautéed chicken breast covered with chilled cucumbers, tomatoes, basil and black olives 19.50

I prefer to think it’s a praise-Allah-these-tourists-are-willing-to-pay-$20-for-a-salad, but that’s just me.
