Bristol Palin Made Over $200k for “Preventing” Teen Sex

Written by Bryce

So much for doing good for the sake of doing good…

You know, I’m all for irony in the Brooklyn hipster kind of way. You want to wear a unicorn t-shirt and have a beard? Go for it. But if you’re going to be the face of a charity, and “do good” all day, shouldn’t you put your money where your mouth is… literally? There’s something just wrong about Bristol Palin being PAID to advocate teen abstinence.

In 2009, Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol joined a teen pregnancy prevention nonprofit called the Candie’s Foundation. Today, the Associated Press reported that the Candie’s Foundation released its 2009 tax information, revealing that Bristol was paid a salary of $262,500.

But a closer examination of the tax form by ThinkProgress shows that the group disbursed only $35,000 in grants to actual teen pregnancy health and counseling clinics: $25,000 to the Mt. Sinai Adolescent Health Center and $10,000 to the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy. View a screenshot of Bristol’s exorbitant salary below:

  • Aren’t the best representatives to advocate against “mistakes” people who actually made the mistake and regret it?

  • Samir-you must be kidding. Bristol Palin is laughing all the way to the bank! I bet the only thing she regrets is not getting knocked up sooner, so she could escape Wasilla.
Bristol had consensual sex and went on to give birth. Every teen should have that same choice, just as they should have the choice to engage in pleasure-only sex or no sex at all. It’s about CHOICE and there’s no whore/slut shaming needed from neither the conservatives or the progressives.
What’s ridiculous here is that Bristol has been paid MEGABUCKS to convince teens that they should reject the very choices she and her family made because she’s soooo bad, bad, bad.

  • “i bet the only thing…” sounds like you just have a biased opinion against her and just don’t like her.

  • This is not about me…this is about the ethics of paying someone a salary which is out of proportion with the amount of value which this person actually contributes to society, and particularly when the employer in question claims to be a tax-exempt nonprofit organization dedicated to public service but spends seven times more for a “celebrity spokesperson” than they do on the service in which they’re supposedly engaged (which according to the tax form which they submitted only accounted for 5% of their operating expenses while her salary alone accounted for over 43%). $250K to Palin vs. $35K for the actual cause is why I ALWAYS want to check these records before I donate to ANY non-profit organization – some are non-profit only because they clear all profits with salaries to administrators. What do I know?
Listen, if you can turn your roll in the hay with the local drug dealer’s son into a $262,000 job, good for you.

  • Seriously? Samir, you really think this girl deserves a greater salary than what that charity is giving out for what they actually stand for like counseling and clinics for prevention? REALLY REALLY? Not to mention, this girl doesn’t deserve a six figure salary for being a uneducated.

    WTF.
