Bryce Gruber’s Thoughts of the Day (lace edition)

Written by Bryce

These are the facts, babydolls…

I don’t pretend to be an ordinary housewife. -Elizabeth Taylor

1. Last Night’s Shoot. If you remember from my last Thoughts of the Day, I described an utterly ridiculous and somewhat kinky photo shoot that was going to go down… well, it went down. One of the best Pilates studios I’ve ever seen was nice enough to host us last night as two photographers, a stylist, and a crew of others (including an expert Gyrotonics team) primped us, prodded us, spread our legs in weird and uncomfortable ways, and made us look like plastic dolls. This photo was snapped with my iPhone, so I can’t wait to see the real, edited pics. And for those of you wondering, that totally hot blonde is my friend Ariston (who apparently is much more flexible than I ever previously thought).

2. The Studio. Kinected in Downtown NYC basically rocked our worlds. As soon as we stepped off the elevator we saw the most intense (and high-tech) equipment we’ve ever seen, and somehow all the faces in there were smiling. We saw people taking classes before we shut the place down for the shoot, and noticed that just about everyone looked totally normal and happy (although they all had sick bodies). Gary, who was our lead photographer on the shoot, made me swear to him that we’d be back for real classes next week. And we will- the place totally wowed us.

3. What is it about gay men, anyway? Since Gary was directing the shoot for the most part, it was interesting to see the angles he was requesting. And by “angles,” I guess I really just mean how far apart he wanted us to spread our legs and contort ourselves into totally inappropriate positions. At one point after my first wardrobe change I had to look him in the eye and say, “listen, schnookems, I’m already half-nekked… I simply will not be spreading my legs… you can find another raunchy pose.” So he did, but not before expressing that it’s all the same to him because he’s gay.

4. Our Soundtrack. We listened to the entire new Britney album during the shoot. I’m not at all embarrassed about this.

5. Wardrobe. We had wardrobe provided by American Apparel (obviously, look at those sparkle leggings), Chinese Laundry shoes, PONO jewelry, SWATCH and a few of our own stylist’s pieces.

6. <3 1980’s Whitney!
