Apparently, the world has always had an extreme affinity for cute animal photos, even in the days B.I. (Before Internet). Puppies and kittens are evidently just as cute in black and white, and even cuter when posed in human stances wearing human clothes. Below are photographs by Harry Whittier Frees taken in 1914 for a series of children’s books. Each of the animals have names, such as “Daddy Fourpaw,” “Mrs. Kindeyes,” “Barker,” and “Blink.” I don’t know about you, but I LOL’d as soon as I set my eyes on these weird pics.
Dance lessons from scary porcelain doll?
Daily weigh-in for the anorexic one?
Basic math and spelling for kitten students from puppy teacher who looks totally over this whole concept?
Domestic puppy?
Bath time with adopted child?
Interracial couple?
I just can’t with this one.
The same puppy who is just over it, this time with his kitten muse?

I think it’s interesting that so many of the dogs have had the hem of their costumes let out, as if showing too much dew claw would somehow provoke censorship. Hmm…
