Are Destination Suicides a Thing?

Some destinations in the world seem to attract suicidal people.

suicide hot spots

Suicide Season, at Niagara Falls starts after Memorial Day weekend, where around 20-25 people kill themselves every year.

First off, let me start by saying that if you, or anyone you know has suicidal thoughts, click on this link to Suicide.org to get help. Suicide is no joke, but I am planning to spend the rest of this post making jokes about it. Just FYI. Because destination suicides are a thing.

When it comes to offing yourself, apparently there are some places in the world that are better than others. Destination suicides are like destination weddings, except less torturous, and you save money on the returning plane ticket. For some reason there are locations in the world with much higher rates of suicide than other places, so my thought is that they are one of two things:

  1. They are haunted as shit, and attract depressed people because of the ghostesses of other depressed people still roaming the area.
  2. So many other people have committed suicide there, that it’s a jumping on the bandwagon type of situation.

I have never seriously considered suicide, but if I ever did I think I would want to find somewhere beautiful and serene to pass myself away, so maybe one of these suicide hot spots would be perfect. Check them out and let me know what you think.

Unless of course, what you think is that I am really good at writing things in poor taste, since I am already well aware of that fact.
