DIY Antiqued Crate Shelving

Spring is in the air (finally), so naturally everything is silently dreading the idea of doing some spring cleaning. Ransacking your apartment in the name of cleanliness doesn’t have to be such a chore if you take the time to reorganize and make your space a little more functional. Crate shelving is a super inexpensive, creative way to DIY your way to a more organized interior.

You can buy crates like this from any Joann Fabrics for about 9 bucks each. This is especially nice since you can stack and arrange the crates according to your spacial needs. You can paint or stain the crates in any finish you choose, from matte black or white for a more modern apartment, to colorful for a funky aesthetic, or antiqued (my personal favorite because I prefer older things in every aspect of my life, except lovers) to complement any decor.

The shelves should be fine stacked on their own, but a few screws never hurt anybody. If you don’t know how to work a screwdriver, then just invite your super over for wine night, and surprise him with a last minute project.
