DIY: Lip Scrub

Written by Steph

DIY exfoliating lip scrub.

Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away (or 2009), I told you about Good Fortune’s Brown Sugar Vanilla lip scrub. It’s organic, edible, exfoliating blah blah BLAH. Point is, a year and a half later, I’ve run out of said lip scrub and the winter winds have got my lips buggin’. Bush-league Chapstick ain’t cuttin’ it.

So here I am, snowed in with ashy lips, thinking about the days of yore when the sky was blue and the lip scrub was plentiful and I’m like, “Shiiieet, why don’t I make my OWN lip scrub?” More importantly, why don’t you? Most of the ingredients needed can be found in your kitchen.

Ingredients

  • 1 part extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 parts fine brown sugar
  • 1-2 drops of lemon juice*

And then normally, there’d be directions. In this case though, all you have to do is mix that shit in a bowl.

To use, dip  your finger in the bowl and apply the treatment to your lips, lightly rubbing the mixture in a circular motion. You can then rinse or blot it off.

The mix will last for up to two weeks, so store it in an airtight jar or glass and keep it at room temperature. You should also add extra oil to the mixture when you’re ready to store it.

*Skip the lemon juice if your lips are sensitive.
