Saturday Night Live (SNL) has always been one of my guiltiest pleasures. SNL has recently been on a very public search to add a black cast member to their ranks and we could not be more excited. After their hunt, they finally landed on Sasheer Zamata. With her first SNL appearance happening this Saturday, we wanted to catch you all up on what you need to know about the lovely lady.
Sasheer has been performing with the Upright Citizens Brigade since moving to New York City in 2009. Her work has been featured on some major press outlets and she’s done some funny videos for just about anyone that matters. She’s played some cutesy roles with Amy Schumer and was pretty great on Totally Biased. She’s basically just a fixture on some of the internet’s top funny web series. My personal favorite is her own web series that she’s created, The Pursuit of Sexiness.
If you want to see Sasheer in person, she hosts a weekly comedy at UCB on Wednesdays at 11PM. She has the really funny witty humor that I don’t normally find funny but I can’t help but giggle at her. She’s going to be quite the brilliant addition to SNL and we’re excited to see her for the first time this Saturday night!
