In Portugal, senior citizens are embracing street art like never before.
I would like to think that if my grandmother were still around, she would join a grandma street gang. Apparently the granmothers in Portugal have much more street cred than in the US, because they have formed a gang called Lata 65, taken to the streets, and are tagging their tits off all over the city.
I am making this sound way more racy than it is, in face the program was initially started to introduce senior citizens to a new artform. The Lata 65 gang then decided to take their art to underdeveloped areas of the city, and have since been adding bursts of color to the streets.

If you ask me, this is fucking amazing. Many senior citizens struggle with still feeling useful and social, so organizing them in this way and giving them something positive to do is not only a good thing for them, but a great thing for society.
