Jasper Johns’ American Flag

Jasper Johns’ White American Flag

The other weekend I visited the Met and found myself enthralled with this particular painting. While not the biggest patriot, I find this white Jasper Johns piece incredibly beautiful and chic.

Jasper Johns is an American contemporary artist best known for his Flag paintings, he created after having a dream of the American flag one night. His work is often described as a Neo-Dadaist, in contrast to his subject matter being pulled from today’s pop culture and modern events.

The chances of me actually owning a Jasper Johns in this life time, are very, very slim to none. But maybe I’ll try to recreate it on a rainy day. Who knows?
