Mulberry launched an “affordable” bag line but I think they’re kidding.
There’s something about a luxury brand that doesn’t understand the definition of “affordable” that really annoys me. Basically, Mulberry hasn’t been able to make a damn sale in quite some time. Their CEO also jumped ship after two years and their creative director threw up the peace sign because she knew what the problem was. Mulberry, can you just not?

The brand has launched their lower price line called “Tessie” and she’s still a pretty penny. Prices are ranging from $860 to $1,190 and that’s supposed to open up their brand to a different kind of customer. Their usual prices for bags, like the Alexa bag, starts around $1,200. Basically, Mulberry is just laughing because there is no actual difference in $10. The bags are modeled after their classic silhouettes that the brand produced in the 70s. There’s also small leather accessories you can grab for under $500! Thank the heavens for that one, Mulberry.
I’m seriously laughing as I write this. I’m laughing because that picture features Lindsey Wixson standing up and that rarely happens. I’m also laughing because this “affordable” price option is pretty dumb. I’ve always been a firm believer that one solid great leather bag will do amazing. A solid leather bag could be a bit pricey, but it doesn’t usually carry a $800+ price tag. If you’re going to follow that whole “it-bag” theory, than splurge on it. However, a basic bag like this, that is deemed “affordable,” is just too basic.
