Allow me to be totally honest for a moment- I had no idea I was sleeping terribly until I finally got an investment-worthy mattress. I bought my last bed when I moved into my new apartment because frankly, the headboard was a gorgeous white tufted leather, and the sales gal mentioned something about throwing the king size mattress in. I mean, I’m not old or rickety… so any regular mattress seemed OK enough to me at the time. I wish I could shake that former version of myself, because I just got a new Simmons Beautyrest Black mattress that has literally changed the way I sleep, wake up, and generally interact with every human before noon. Not even kidding.
The mattress features a special “Dynamic Response Memory Foam” and while I have no idea what that means scientifically, I do know that I somehow sink into the bed fully and still maintain amazingly perfect support all at once. Don’t ask me how it works, I assume it’s magic. It offers pressure relief and temperature management, which during the dead of summer has been a huge advantage on the few nights I chose to brave it with the windows open. I just never get that cling-to-the-bed-sticky feeling on a hot night, and I love that. But perhaps most important of all is that when my husband moves around on the other side of the bed, or two or three crazy toddlers hop in on a Sunday morning… well, the springs don’t send me from here to the moon. In fact, I’ve been known to actually sleep through my nearly 2 year old daughter hopping into bed with me at 6 AM (see, we all win!).
My husband is beyond thrilled, because aside from the help with his regular back pain from a car accident a few years ago, he’s a man with a constantly well-rested wife. In other words, I’ve been extra nice to him lately, and in his words, “whatever the cost of that mattress is, I’d pay double… you’re so much nicer in the morning now.”
