10 Natural Remedies for Heartburn

What’s the problem with delicious meals like spicy fried chicken and snacks like iced coffee? Aside from the fact that they’re WAY too high in calories, they also contain ingredients that can cause acid reflux. Also known as heartburn, this digestive problem can make you feel like the world is ending and there is an inferno raging in your chest. Here are a few easy natural remedies for heartburn.

Heartburn can be very painful, and you’ll find it hard to work, sleep, or relax if your stomach is acting up. The good news is that it can be very easy to deal with your heartburn and acid reflux using natural remedies:

  1. Almonds — The unsaturated fats found in almonds are excellent for neutralizing the acid roiling in your stomach. Eat a handful of nuts–no more than 20 should do–and you’ll find that your acid reflux disappears within half an hour or so.
  2. Apple Cider Vinegar –– You’d think that adding acid into an already acidic stomach would be like pouring fuel on a fire, but ACV is amazing at providing digestive relief. Take a couple of tablespoons of the vinegar in warm water or apple juice, and you’ll find that your post-meal drink will calm the inferno. One of the best natural remedies for heartburn!
  3. Aloe Vera Juice –– Aloe vera is excellent at soothing burns on your skin, but it’s the juice that will help to ease your stomach pains. It has been used for centuries as a remedy for heartburn, as the soothing, cooling properties of the juice reduces swelling and neutralizes the acid in your stomach.
  4. Baking Soda –– Baking soda neutralizes all acids nicely, including stomach acid. You can provide nearly instant heartburn relief by mixing up a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda in a glass of water and drinking it down after a heavy meal.
  5. Basil — Acid reflux is often accompanied by gas and nausea. Chew a few basil leaves, and you’ll find that your heartburn is gone!

  2. Tea — Chamomile tea is the best thing to drink if you have indigestion of any sort, and it works wonders for acid reflux and heartburn. Ginger tea can also be a tasty drink if you have stomach issues.
  3. Gum –– Chewing gum stimulates the production of saliva in your mouth, and saliva, once swallowed, neutralizes the acid in your stomach. Stay away from mint-flavored gum, and only chew fruity gums if your stomach is acting up.
  4. Grapes –– Did you know grapes can ease your acid reflux by absorbing a lot of the acid? Grapes are loaded with fiber, and can help you to deal with indigestion and stomach pains of any sort. You only need to eat half a large bunch — up to 20 grapes should do the trick — and you’ll find that your acid reflux is gone!
  5. Potatoes –– Potatoes are very high in fiber, but it’s the juice from the potatoes that will neutralize the acid in your stomach. Not only that, but it can even help to repair the lining of your stomach, preventing ulcers from forming. You can run a single raw potato through your juicer, and mix the liquid with water to make a drink that may not taste great, but which works wonders.

These are all simple remedies made with items you can easily find around your house, but they can work wonders if you are trying to get rid of your acid reflux!
