Pole Dancing Could be an Olympic Sport Soon

Pole dancing at the Olympics? Yes, really.

Red alert, red alert — pole dancing could be coming to the Olympics. Anyone who has ever taken a pole dancing class will back up the “OMG it’s so hard” narrative, but we’re betting nobody saw the Olympics making it into this very sexy picture. It makes sense though, because pole dancing will give participants legs, abs, and arms that dreams are made of.

The Global Association of International Sports Federations just confirmed they’ll be giving “observer status” to the International Pole Sports Federation, otherwise known as the IPSF (see how official and even clinical pole dancing seems in this fashion?), which has been reported as setting a “clear pathway” towards full Olympic recognition.

We know what you’re thinking — it’s just observer status right now, and that probably means there will be a handful of middle aged male “observers” heading out to the poles to well, observe, and probably drink pints of protein beer. It doesn’t really mean anything yet, per se, other than dudes will be watching very skilled women pole dance their way to the top of the food chain. But there’s hope.

In the meantime, we’re just going to sit back and wait for Wheaties to come out with a pole dancing cereal box, and assume this will be a summer sport, because who wants to see fully-clad winter Olympic pole dancing? We’re also placing our bets on Russia for all the events.
