Relationship Spotting: I Don’t Get Why You’re Not Obsessed with Me

Written by emilyc

In my experience, if you have to try really hard to make a relationship work to the point where it is more stressful than enjoyable, stop trying and move on. Allow me to site a real world example (genders have been changed to protect identity).

A friend of mine was going out with a guy she was totally into. On their most recent date, things just weren’t going as she had mapped out in her head. Distraught and on her second martini, she said to him, “I don’t get why you’re not obsessed with me.”

As the man reached for her arm to try and console her, she said, “Don’t touch me,” yet proceeded to grab onto his hand a few seconds later. This is what happens when you try too hard to make a relationship work: you end up appearing a little crazy. So, at least try my advice and go with the flow next time you meet someone you like. If you’re supposed to be together, everything will fall into place, and you’ll be obsessed with each other without even having to ask.
