Look Inside: Rustic Maine Beach House is Atlantic Access Paradise

Take a look inside this rustic 1940s Cape with Atlantic Ocean access—a fisherman’s dream come true.

Finding a beachfront property in New York or other Mid-Atlantic states could set you back several million bucks, but we found a breathtaking rustic Maine beach house with Atlantic access for under $1.5 million. That’s a bargain compared to the 1850s Highland, NY estate overlooking the Hudson that we recently featured.

This impressive waterfront estate set at 36 Thompson Road in Bristol, Maine features over half an acre with jaw-dropping harbor views that promise endless happy family memories.

“Round Pond Village is a special place,” describes the Zillow listing. “It evolved as a small fishing community dependent on the lobster for survival. Fishermen walked the paths across the fields to get to their boats in the morning. Children were sent to the islands to pick blueberries in the summer so their mothers could bake pies.”

FYI, if you love this one, you’ll be obsessed with the Tudor-style castle we covered in New Jersey and the jaw-dropping Hunter Mountain ski chalet pictures we recently showcased.

“Summer folk returned to mix into the community and enjoy the idyllic days around Muscongus Bay. Today, Round Pond still feels like a step back in time as it retains the simple living and tight-knit community bonds.”

“The harbor buzzes with a mix of lobster boats and sailboats. Local docks offer a delightful spot to sip a drink and enjoy a feed of lobster and clams.”

This property at 36 Thompson Road is located in the center of the picturesque village and sits along the water’s edge. The sights and sounds of the harbor provide a sense of tranquility, comforting to the soul—no matter how tired or overworked it may be.

“The 1940’s cape at the center of the property retains the original ambiance with a few practical improvements including an insulated basement and roof as first steps to year-round use. A fireplace in the living room offers a place to gather around the welcome warmth.”

A vintage galley kitchen and dining room offer a beautiful nod to previous generations and a simpler way of life.

It’s the kind of place you’d want to open Christmas gifts for her and gifts for men wrapped in fleece blankets.

“This is a ‘kick-back’ authentic seasonal cottage with a magical energy,” the listing continues. “The second building is a contemporary studio or guest house designed by an award-winning architect.”

“It is built of reclaimed wood and offers a screened porch, a comfortable living room with lovely harbor views and a wood stove, a small office, a galley kitchenette, a full bath with a tiled shower and a loft/sleeping area on the second floor.”

Though there are no official approvals, it appears that there is a good opportunity to put in a deep-water dock. Bring your big dreams, a vintage Polaroid camera to capture the memories and of course, a big boat for fishing.

Take a few more ganders before you go, will ya?
