Shoes Made Out Of Tires…?

Written by Corinne

Were you ever told your shoe obsession was a problem? Well, if you purchase your shoes from Greenbees, you are actually helping the Earth, thanks to your shoe obsession – no problem there! It is estimated that 2 to 3 billion tires are currently stockpiled in the US. Greenbees is making good use of this overwhelming amount of rubble, and doing a fashionable job of it! Greenbees uses old discarded tires to make the soles of their shoes, and with one tire they make four to five pairs of shoes.

  • I was once in Mexico and this man traced my feet on a sheet of leather and asked me to return later that afternoon. When I returned I was surprised to slip on some of the most comfortable sandals with a tread that had seen many of mile before my feet ever met them. Old discarded tires made the best soles.
