Swatch Gets a Makeover

Written by Steph

As a child of the ’90s, I’m no stranger to all-consuming trends. While elementary school was meant to be a period of innocence, it was also a time that defined you– were you Big Pete (lame), or Little Pete (badass)? You got a one-way ticket out of loserdom if you had all of the following acoutremal:

  • A slap bracelet
  • Pogs
  • Stirrup leggings (the more flourescent the leggings, the cooler you were)
  • And of course, the beloved Swatch Watch

You were a nobody until you got a Swatch Watch. Look at that thing, it’s like a retro work of art. A master(time)piece.

Alas, the ’90s have come and gone, and all of us twenty-something trendwhores have been left out of the cold. Gone are the days of geometric patterns and pastel colors. Where can we possibly find our original, eyepopping wristwear now, a decade later?

It pleases me to report that as you’ve transformed from a snot-nosed rugrat into a grown and sexy stylista, Swatch has undergone a similiar metamorphosis. Allow me to introduce their remix of the Swatch classic Full Blooded collection (originally only available in gold, black, and silver). The collection has now grown to include red, dark blue, green, and brown. That’s right, ladies and gents: we’re talking classic style with a bold kiss of color. Purchase one of these unisex watches for an affordable $150 to appease the Clarissa Darling fan in you that never died with the end of the fantastic, funky decade that was the ’90s. She’ll thank you.
