Travel Gear Spotting: Wearable Luggage

Written by emilyc

No matter where I travel, no matter how long I am traveling for, I always pack just short of everything I own. If I am going on a beach trip, I will pack traditional beach gear as well as  6 inch heels and an evening gown. What if the beach to which I’m traveling just happens to have a beach deck conducive to heel-wearing? What if there’s a black tie event I forgot about? Same thing happens if I’m going on a camping trip -which would never happen, but if it did, I would pack several pairs of Jeffrey Campbells in addition to traditional outdoor shoes because I wouldn’t want the woodland creatures thinking I’m an athletic shoe kind of girl.

My insistence upon having bountiful outfit options when traveling poses a problem when it comes to airline travel. What if I don’t want to spend the money to check a bag? What if I checked two bags and still don’t have enough room in my carry on for all shoe options? The solution is wearable luggage. All you have to do is sacrifice a few hours of being fashionable to wear a luggage vest and/or coat. Yes. You can actually pack a sizable portion of your clothes into a vest or coat. Check out these innovative (albeit unflattering) garments here and here.

With a major in international business and years of being surrounded by ill-fitting suits and all the wrong shoes, she learned that the importance of fashion needs to be communicated to the world.
