One of the fondest memories of my childhood was trespassing on someone’s private property. They had this amazing aqua blue lake that was crystal clear because the bottom was made out of white clay. We had to hike through some woods to get to this hidden paradise, but it was worth it. Me and my siblings had a picnic, splashed around, did some intense swimming, and then got arrested. It was a great day.
The Satpara lake on the road to Deosai plain, in Sakardu, Pakistan reminds me of that lake. It is a charming oasis nestled between mountains and currently being converted into a dam to provide electricity to the surrounding cities. Also, it is shaped like a heart.
What is not to love?
