We’ve been talking a lot about winter sculptures and ice cities this winter. Honestly, I think it’s because we have all accepted the fact that our balls have receded into our body, and won’t be showing up again until the first real thaw.
Other places around the world have accepted and embraced their climate, like Astana, Kazakhstan. In December, the city of Astana becomes a winter wonderland complete with huge ice figures representing different forms like animals and landmarks. At night, the sculptures are lit from underneath by lights in many different hues, creating a fantasy world of ice for tourists, and locals alike.
