Travel Spotting: San Francisco fog

Written by Gary

The sudden inclement weather and impending cold season in New York has gotten all of us thinking about the different places we want to escape to and the various climates we want to experience before our winter hibernation. Recently I started thinking about San Francisco and happened to stumble upon these photos that rejuvenated my interest. I have only been there once to visit a friend, but I remember several important things:

1. San Francisco is absolutely beautiful, with a metropolitan vibe and easy-going aura that manages to remain within driving distance of some of the most beautiful scenes nature has to offer.

2. The climate is typical of California, from warm days and the the occasional gust of cold wind to chilly nights where a light jacket is a must. The atmosphere of the city creates a completely different experience than the all-or-nothing temperatures of New York.

3. My ass hurt from all the uphill climbing I had to do.

One of the only things as beautiful as seeing San Francisco, however, is not seeing it. Photographer Terrence Chang has captured the beauty of the thick fog banks as they encapsulate San Francisco and engulf the Golden Gate Bridge.

Now that the weather is starting to change and we are going to be spending more time indoors it is important to get out of the city and see all the beauty that other cities and other climates have to offer. The San Francisco fog is at the top of my list.
