TrenderBender: Sorelle Firenze’s ‘Girl Next Door’ Must Haves

Written by Ashley

Sorelle Firenze duo Monica and Barbara Abbatemaggio dish on their 4 must-have fashion pieces.

Florentine sisters Barbara and Monica Abbatemaggio together run a design/styling company named Sorelle Firenze. If that name seems familiar to you it’s because the designers/stylists used to operate a wildly popular boutique in Tribeca with the same name. Now the brand has been reborn; their website just relaunched, and they’re dishing out some serious style savvy. Sorelle Firenze’s philosophy of dressing works seamlessly to take women from winter to spring with ease and elegance. When working with clients they often instruct them to purchase timeless pieces and accessorize with trend- driven touches. Monica and Barbara Abbatemaggio adore layering looks and have chosen four trend-driven items that will leave you looking chic all winter and into spring.

Soft leather jackets and vests:
These pieces give you a cool, rock and roll feel and look great over a feminine dress. They are the perfect weight to throw on when you leave the house and when it gets warmer you can simply place it in your bag. Monica Abbatemaggio says, “I love when my sister wears her leather vest with skinny red jeans and heels. Add dangling earrings and a clutch and she’s ready for a night on the town.” You can try wearing a fitted vest with a pretty lace bra and nothing else. The look is beautiful, intriguing and rock and roll.

Cowboy boots:
If you don’t already own them, run don’t walk to pick up a pair and match them with a mini dress for a down to Earth and yet totally sexy look. Barbara Abbatemaggio says, “When Monica wears a fitted mini dress with a long necklace, oversized cardigan and a cowboy boots (no stockings) her legs look so long.” This is the perfect “girl next door” look and drives men crazy.

Little short dresses:
A must-have for your closet. Fantastic for your day off, you can easily and stylishly run errands and then meet the girls for a drink. Best paired with cowboy boots, a poncho, oversized cardigan or leather jacket.

Silky pants:
These versatile pants paired with a simple tee shirt, ankle boots and a messenger bag are perfect for a busy New York City lifestyle. Monica Abbatemaggio says, “Sometimes Barbara layers a skimpy cashmere sweater, a long necklace and leather vest when we’re running around the city looking for fabrics to design wedding dresses. Add some sparkle to your top and you’re ready to bring these pants into the night.
