Turn Your Loved Ones Into A Diamond Necklace

Written by corey

When it comes to your loved ones passing, it’s always a difficult time. You can keep them in an urn that resembles their face or you can turn them into diamonds. Seriously, this is a thing. Personally, I’ve never been one for cremation unless we’re talking about scattering my ashes at Bergdorfs. When I found out that there’s a company that will turn the ashes into diamonds I quickly changed my mind.

Algordanza, a swiss company, specializes in this field. The founder came up with the idea 10 years ago and is now doing business in 24 countries. Each year, the company will turn about 800 to 900 ashes into diamonds. The turn around is about three months to receive a set of blue diamonds. The diamonds tend to turn out blue but on rare occasion will turn a different color. All the diamonds are unique, they’re never the same — which is kind of beautiful. The process starts at reducing the ashes to carbon and then heating them at an intense heat for weeks! It takes about a pound of ashes to create one diamond and they’ve produced 9 diamonds before from one set of ashes.

Sure, I love a statement necklace. I’m just not sure if this is the kind of statement I want to make. The diamonds will obviously turn out beautifully, but could this just be a constant grief factor? I feel like having the diamonds around constantly wouldn’t allow me to move on. To each their own though, the process will run ya between $5K and $20K.
